Our Bronx work concentrates in the northeast corner, which is the part of the borough that sits closest to us. Pelham Bay, Throggs Neck, Country Club, Baychester, Co-op City and the blocks around Westchester Square are all a short parkway run from 555 Main Street, and a lot of people from those ZIPs discovered us because a Westchester shop was easier to get an appointment at than anything nearer, and the drive turned out to be shorter than they assumed.
What we hear from Bronx drivers is that the car has to keep working. It is parked on the street, it is used every day, and taking it off the road for two days is not an option. So we work to that. Chips get filled in about half an hour while you wait. Door glass is usually in hand within a day or two and fitted inside an hour. Windshields go in the same week, with the camera behind the mirror recalibrated here so there is no second appointment somewhere else.
The northeast Bronx drives more like inner Westchester than like the rest of the borough. Pelham Parkway, Boston Road, Middletown Road and Bruckner Boulevard carry the local traffic, and the Hutchinson River Parkway, the Bruckner Expressway and the New England Thruway all pass through on the way to the Throgs Neck and Whitestone bridges. Pelham Bay Park takes up a large piece of the map, with Orchard Beach and the City Island causeway beyond it. The 6 train ends at Pelham Bay Park and the 5 runs up to Eastchester–Dyre Avenue. Housing shifts from Co-op City towers to the small detached houses and short driveways of Country Club and Throggs Neck, so parking ranges from a huge structured garage to a tight kerbside space, and that difference decides how a mobile job gets set up.

This corner of the Bronx has three highways and two bridge approaches funnelling through it, which is a lot of stone in the air. Bruckner traffic backing up toward the Throgs Neck crossing keeps cars nose to tail at exactly the distance where debris finds glass. The Hutch is older and narrower with low overpasses. Then there is the parking side of it: street parking overnight, block after block of it, and tempered door glass is the first thing that goes in a break-in. That is a large share of the side glass we replace for Bronx customers. Winter salt off the parkways gets ground across the windshield by wiper blades until the surface is scored, and scored glass gives a fresh chip somewhere to start.
From Pelham Bay or Country Club, the Hutchinson River Parkway north to the first New Rochelle exits, then east to Main Street, is about fifteen minutes. From Throggs Neck take I-95 north instead and come off in downtown New Rochelle. From Co-op City the Hutch is again the straight run. We are on the downtown block of Main Street, metered parking directly outside and municipal garages a block away, and the Metro-North station is close enough to walk to if you want to carry on into the city while we work. If the car is undriveable or you would rather not move it, say so and we will bring the van down to the block instead.

Alternate-side days are worth checking before you book, because a sweeper coming through halfway through a urethane cure is nobody's idea of a good morning.
